Corona JBay Open surfs off

2019-07-11 06:00
The opening day of the Corona JBay Open on Tuesday, July 9 was an all-day action-fest of high performance surfing, as the world’s best surfers took to the perfect waves of Supertubes in what is the sixth event on the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT). All eyes were on Kelly Slater in heat 10, as he came up against Jeremy Flores and Sebastian Zietz. Slater climbed into a moderate lead, but his opponents were chasing hard throughout. The Corona JBay Open forms part of the JBay Winterfest and is the only Championship Tour event on the African continent. The event will come to a close on Monday, July 22. Photo:LOUIS LÖTTER
