Days left to renew liquor licences

2018-02-22 06:00

ONLY six days are left for all liquor traders who have not yet renewed their liquor licences to renew their licences. Eastern Cape Liquor Board urges all liquor traders to renew their liquor licence, to avoid being deregistered after February 28, 2018.

ECLB wishes to commend those liquor traders that have so far taken it upon themselves to ensure that they comply with conditions of their liquor licences and promptly renewed their liquor licences. It is pleasing to note that more than 80% have already renewed their liquor licences.

An unfortunate implication for liquor traders who fail to renew their licences by 28 February 2018, is that their liquor outlets will be deregistered and should they wish to trade again, they will be expected to re-apply for a new liquor licence. This simply means that they will be forced to close down their businesses and go through the rigorous liquor licence application process.

Communities are also urged to take note and report any liquor outlet that continues to trade without a valid liquor licence, and must report such tendencies to the nearest police stations or the Eastern Cape Liquor Board at 080 000 0420.

It is a legislative requirement that a liquor licence must be visibly displayed at each liquor outlet so that people can be in a position to see it and be able to identify if it has been renewed.

This serves as a last reminder to all liquor traders that have not yet renewed their liquor licences.
