THE annual 2017 Glacier Storms River Tra-verse, a 3-day mountain bike stage race, is set to take place in the beautiful Storms River Village from August 3 to 6.

Organised by Dryland Event Management, the race is best experienced with the whole family.

Starting and finishing at Tsitsikamma Village Inn, the route consists largely of jeep tracks. The relaxed pace offers riders ample time to enjoy the full offering at each water point. Along with Biogen supplements, participants can expect home-made banana bread, boiled potatoes, hard-boiled eggs, marmite sandwiches, koeksisters and Klein Karoo International ostrich steak off the braai at the final water point on each stage.

The daily stage distances are under 60km, allowing riders of 16 and older to take part under the Cycling South Africa rules.

The event offers an educational day-care programme for children between the ages of three and twelve, plus a day-care facility for children under the age of three.

For the teenagers the Tsitsikamma Village offers a plethora of activities from ziplining, to bungy jumping and white water tubing.

For the less adventurous members of the family Tsitsikamma offers hikes, bird watching, Segway and canopy tours. Visitors can also browse stores in the quaint Storms River Village before kicking their feet up and letting the relaxed atmosphere soak away the stresses of the outside world, while they enjoy a glass of wine and a good book.

Entries close on July 15. For more information, visit www.stormsrivertraverse.co.za.
