ENTRIES are now open for the JBay Wind Farm MTB Classic on July 22.

Now in its fifth year, the event will offer something for riders of a range of fitness and skill levels. With the start and finish at Kabeljouws there will be three routes: 25km, 50km and 85km.

The short route will be the same as in 2016, with the 50km marathon featuring a few changes, including one or two additional climbs. It is in the 85-kilometre ultra where seriously fit riders will be in for a real treat. Traditionally an ideal shakedown training ride ahead of Transbaviaans in August, the route will be technical and tough and, almost completely different from that of previous years with a lot of new singletrack.

There will be R50 000 worth of prizes up for grabs with a R10 000 first prize for both the male and female 85km ultra category winners.

The event forms part of the JBay Winterfest and will showcase some of the finest trails in the surrounding area.

The entry fees are R300 (85km), R225 (50km) and R120 (25km). Cyclists not registered with Cycling SA, will have to pay an additional R45 for a day licence. Enter online at jbaymtbclassic.co.za. Registration closes at midnight on Wednesday, July 19.
