Establishments to vie for provincial awards

SOME 15 local tourism establishments are set to battle it out to be crowned the provincial winners of the prestigious Lilizela Tourism Awards for 2018.

The annual Lilizela Tourism Awards is a national government initiative aimed at promoting tourism transformation, service excellence, entrepreneurship, and thriving and sustainable tourism.

In the running for the best action and adventure establishment, are Bloukrans Bungy - Face Adrenalin, Stormsriver Adventures (Tsitsikamma Canopy Tours) and Untouched Adventures.

Tsitsikamma Backpackers and Island Vibe Jeffreys Bay hope to walk away with honours in the backpacking and hostelling category, while the Chokka Trail will pull out all the stops to triumph as the best beach experience.

Dune Ridge Country House is set to be named the best country house experience, while Stormsriver Adventures (Tsitsikamma Canopy Tours) want to walk away with the laurels in the best mobility and visual and mobility experience.

Also in the running for the best mobility experience, is Tsitsikamma Segways.

The Sands @ St Francis hopes to be crowned once again the winners in the guest house category, while the Fernery Lodge, Tsitsikamma Lodge & Spa and Baviaanskloof Lodge Country House will all battle it out to be named the best lodge.

The contenders for the best scenic beauty are Untouched Adventures, Stormsriver Adventures (Tsitsikamma Canopy Tours), and Baviaans Camino.

Competing for the best exclusive self-catering experience are APPLE@JBAY and Seashells Holiday Luxury Apartments and Conference Centre.

These establishments will compete for provincial honours at Hemmingways Hotel in East London on September 20, from where the provincial winners will vie for national honours.
