ROAD markings across the region are receiving a fresh coat of paint ahead of the festive season.

“The tendency in the past was to focus on beautifying the coastal towns ahead of the holidays, but we want to do things differently this year,” Kouga Mayor Horatio Hendricks said.

“Our interior towns have immense tourism value and we want to draw more tourists there, so that the local economies can grow.”

In addition to the road markings, the municipality’s grass-cutting and bush-clearing teams have been out and about to tidy up the entrances to all of Kouga’s towns.

The grass-cutting teams also spruced up popular picnic and braai sites, including, Yellowwoods at Hankey.

The Mayor extended a special word of thanks to Dorp van Drome for the tireless work they have been doing to beautify Jeffreys Bay. “You are testimony to the spirit that won Jeffreys Bay the Kwêla Town of the Year title. We value partnerships such as these that help take our region forward.”
