WHETHER it is to work on your fitness level or to just have fun - Fountains Mall is the place to be next Saturday.
Fountains Mall in Jeffreys Bay, in conjunction with the Association for Persons with Disabilities (APD), will host their third annual APD Fun Run on December 5.
According to Jeannette du Toit, Fountains Mall general manager, the fun run’s main aim is to create awareness for the challenges people with physical disabilities face on a daily basis.
The funds raised with entrance fees for the fun run will be utilised to assist the APD in their day to day operations and awareness campaigns.
The fun run consists of two categories, a 2.5km run and a 5km run, and is open to young and old. Registration starts at 07:30 in the parking area in front of McDonalds.
“Fountains Mall is committed to make the mall as accessible as possible to all their patrons, as well as to ensure that a visit to the mall is easy and comfortable for people with disabilities,” says Du Toit.
The mall has recently increased the number of disabled parking bays from 12 to 24 and has also created 13 additional bays to accommodate senior citizens closer to the entrances.
“However, patrons making use of the disabled parking facilities without the necessary disabled disks, remains a problem. The correct disks can only be obtained by applying at the local Traffic Office. We urge the community to be sensitive and assist us in our efforts to accommodate the disabled,” says Du Toit.
