LOCAL surfer, Steven Sawyer, is set to ride the waves in Papua New Guinea at the first World Longboard Championship Tour after winning the World Longboard Championships in China - landing the number two spot in the world.

This is one of the best surfing results to come out of Jeffreys Bay, even South Africa.

But he needs the support of the community to get there.

Join the fundraising event at J-Bay Bru Co at 19:00 on Friday, March 10 where Sawyer will be performing with his band.

Other highlights of the evening include surfing highlights from 2016, as well as a lucky draws and an auction.
