HuntEx Expo to be held in Jeffreys Bay

HUNTING, sport-shooting and outdoor enthusiasts are in for a blast of a time this weekend.

HuntEx, the biggest hunting and sport-shooting expo in the souther hemisphere, is set to host the annual Eastern Cape Hunter’s Fair at Mentors Kraal Estate just outside Jeffreys Bay from May 27 to 29. This is a not-to-be-missed event, with exhibitors selling everything from luxury items to rifles and handguns, and, of course, biltong. Then there is also the much-anticipated GWK Auction the Saturday.

The Expo is specially tailored to cater for hunting and sport shooting enthusiasts, while at the same time providing fun activities for the whole family.

This four day expo offers a full immersion experience with demonstrations and informative talks by experts. The latest in hunting, sports and defensive firearms, ammunition and accessories, shooting and reloading equipment, optics, hunting and tactical garments, footwear, knives, archery, taxidermy, hunting destinations, vehicles, camping, outdoor equipment and many more will be on show.

The aim of the event is to promote sustainable hunting and wildlife management, as well as the responsible use of firearms.

GWK Auction

The GWK Auction, the second Kouga Eastern Cape Game Auction in conjunction with HuntEx, will take place at 11:00 on Saturday, May 28.

The wide variety, quantity and quality of animals from across the world that will be on auction will offer something for everyone.

Some of the unique game that will be on auction is a 46 2/8” buffalo bull (Matimba), a 47” Sable bull (90% Zambies), and a 29” hybrid gemsbok cow (pregnat from Rafiki, a 31” bull).

Animals to also come under the hammer are giraffe, wildebeest, waterbuck, kudu, nyala, zebra, blesbuck, springbuck and impala.

  • The HuntEx Expo will take place from Friday, May 27 to Sunday, May 29 from 09:00 to 17:00, and on Sunday, May 30 from 09:00 to 15:00. The entry fee is R100 per person per day. Children and students pay R50, while children under 12 enter free.
