THE Kouga Council has received a letter of good standing from the Department of Labour, its first one in ten years.

The good news follows on the shock discovery by the municipal leadership in July this year that Kouga had failed to pay Return of Earnings (RoEs) to the Department of Labour for ten years. RoEs are required for what is commonly known as “workmen’s compensation”.

“The outstanding bill was close on R13-million,” Kouga Mayor Elza van Lingen said. “We are thankful that we were able to resolve the matter with the Department and that both the municipality and its staff are once again properly covered.”

IBHUNGA laseKouga liye lafumana incwadi yobume obugqibeleleyo kwiSebe Lezemisebenzi.

“Imali elityala ibisondele kwi-R13 million,” utsho uSodolophu uElza van Lingen.

“Siyayibulela into yokuba siye sakwazi ukuyisombulula le nyewe neSebe, kwaye umasipala kunye nabasebenzi bakhe balungiselelwe kakuhle kwakhona.”
