“Hier is wonderlike blouvlagstrande, goeie branders, oopwaterswembyeenkomste en goeie restaurante – alles in ’n baie veilige omgewing.”

Hy sê die titel is te danke aan ’n gesamentlike poging deur die inwoners en hy het almal vir hul bydrae bedank.

Deon Goosen van die Jeffreysbaai Dorp van Drome-beweging het dit beaam en gesê steun is selfs uit die buiteland ontvang.

“Die reaksie was oorweldigend positief. Daar is gate in die strate en die sypaadjies is dalk nie altyd skoon nie, maar die mense het nogtans saamgewerk om die dorp te help groei.”

in die laaste week op groot skaal aan die stemmery deelgeneem. “En natuurlik het ons surfers ook gestem,” sê Roux.

“Dit is ook niks minder as reg nie dat erkenning gegee word aan een van die groot dryfvere agter hierdie oorwinning, naamlik die ontslape burgemeester, Elza van Lingen.” Van Lingen is op 19 April aan kanker dood.

“Haar wens was dat Jeffreysbaai die titel wen.

Elza se deursettingsvermoë en werketiek het dikwels as aansporing gedien vir die beplanningskomitee onder leiding van Joe Ferreira, voorsitter van die Kouga-sakeforum, om nog meer te doen,” sê Roux.
