Local shore angling club reels in awards

THE CAPE St Francis Shore Angling Club reeled in several prestigious awards at the Eastern Province Shore Angling prize-giving on May 28.

Besides winning a number of trophies and taking honours in most divisions - as indivi-duals and as a team - a number of the members were also selected to represent the Eastern Province in the South African angling championships set to take place at the end of the year and early next year.

In the junior division Gerhard (Kleintjie) Coetzee was named the top angler. In the senior division Theo Herbst and Dewald Kapp won trophies for the angling week competition, and they were selected to represent the Eastern Province at the SA angling cham- pionships

Linda Botes was selected to represent the Eastern Province at the SA angling cham- pionships later this year. She furthermore was selected as a member of the president’s team to compete in Namibia in October this year.

In the Grandmaster division Noel Skinner was bestowed a gold medal for top angler, while Gavin O’Moore and Alan Prinsloo won the silver and bronze medals respectively.

A number of these anglers were also selected to represent the Eastern Province in the Grandmasters division.
