LOCAL mountain bike enthusiasts from around Kouga and surrounding areas are preparing themselves for a tough and exciting MySpar Mountain Bike Classic this year.

It is expected that some 500 plus bikers will compete on May 1, taking on the challenging routes and breathtaking scenery at the Zuurbron Bike Park on the R330 - 15km away from Humansdorp in the direction of Hankey.

The carefully planned route offers something for the whole family - from the expert to the novice. The experts can tackle the 60km route which offers endless challenges - including farm roads, jeep and single tracks, and a floating bridge.

For the less technical mountain biker, there is a 35km route, which still requires a decent level of fitness.

There are also a 10km bike ride, and a 10km fun run.

Lucky draw prizes up for grabs include a Merida Big Nine 20D Mountain Bike, an Axis A70 650B Mountain Bike, a Git2 Action Camera, a Thule Xpress 2 Bike Carrier and a Nixon camera.

Apart from racing fun, learners from Stulting Primary School will have a bike wash to raise funds for the school. Bike enthusiasts and supporters can also look forward to a coffee bar, food stalls, jumping castles, sand art and face painting.
