Police clamps down on crime

LOCAL police stations in the Humansdorp Cluster clamped down on road offenders and drugs on Friday.

A multi-disciplinary roadblock on the N2 at the turn-off to Jeffreys Bay, saw a total of 65 traffic fines to the value of R34 750 issued to road users.

Eight warrants of arrest were executed and one motorist was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

A total of 1 451 vehicles were stopped.

On the same day, a 29-year-old male was arrested for the illegal possession of 200 mandrax tablets and 96 marijuana (dagga) “zolle” valued at approximately R10 960.

The suspect was travelling in a taxi in Voortrekker Road, Humansdorp, at 16:30, when the police stopped the taxi and searched the passengers after receiving information from the public.

The suspect appeared in the Humansdorp Magistrate Court on Monday.

On Sunday, April 2, a 42-year-old male was arrested for the illegal posession of 12.15g cocaine and 23.18g tik to the total va-lue of R15 000.

“Members of the Humansdorp Police Station obtained a search warrant and upon searching a residential home in Keet Street, Humansdorp, they found the drugs,” says Swart.

The suspect appeared in the Humansdorp Magistrate Court on April 3.
