DRINK beer, ‘chase’ colourful wild flowers, enjoy live music and tackle various trail runs – all this weekend. And drink more beer.The fourth annual Oktoberfest, joining forces with the Seal Point Wildflower Festival, is set to take over Cape St Francis and St Francis Bay from October 11 to October 13.Apart from the beer-fuelled festival taking place at Cape St Francis Resort from 18:00 on Saturday, October 12, the Kouga Municipality will host a Beer Fest at Jé Vista Social Café in Jeffreys Bay from 10:00 to 02:00 on the day.The Hofbräuhaus Oompah Band will get the feet stomping and hands clapping.The entry fee is R30 per person.Festivalgoers can furthermore look forward to an educational Wild Flower Chase, adrenaline-packed trail runs, a fun beer run and live music. Wild Flower Chase Nature-lovers can look forward to an educational Wild Flower Chase over the weekend – focusing on the colours and varieties of the abundant indigenous flora at the four local wildflower reserves.The event will consist of an information session in the Fynbos Lounge at Cape St Francis Resort, followed by a flower chase.The different wild flower chases will take place at 11:00 on October 11, at 09:00 and 14:00 on October 12 and at 10:00 on October 13. Trail Run For the more adventurous, there will be two adrenaline-packed trail runs on Saturday, October 12.The 26km race will leave the starting blocks at 07:30, while those competing in the 10km event will take to the road at 08:30.Runners will track through the Irma Booysen Nature Reserve, along the Rocky Coast Farm and the Wildside, around the Cape St Francis Lighthouse and back to the starting point at Cape St Francis Resort.There will also be a 3km and 1km run for the kids at 11:00.All three races will start and finish at Cape St Francis Resort. Beer Run Then it is time for cheers and the second annual 4km Beer Run hosted by Liquid Lines and St Francis Brewing Company – a prelude to the Oktoberfest.The race, set to start at 16:00, includes the challenge of drinking a pint of St Francis Brewing Company’s beer at four pit stops along the way.Race briefing will take place at the Full Stop Café at 15:00, from where participants will be transported to the start of the race.Also on the running menu are Leonista Tequila, a collector’s T-shirt and a finishers medal.The entry fee is R400 per person.OktoberfestThe Beer Run will be followed by the Oktoberfest at Cape St Francis Resort at 18:00.Festivalgoers can look forward to live music, flowing beer and delicious German food, followed by a great DJ to dance the night away.Prizes for the best dresses will be up for grabs – so don your German inspired threads and join in the fun.The entry fee to the festival is as follow: Unter (R100): includes entry to the party. German-style food and great beer will be available for purchase. Mitte (R200): includes entry to the festival, a platter of cold meats and snacks, and one bottle of craft beer.
