DUNCAN Faure, the all-time legend from Rabbit and the Bay City Rollers fame, and Mel Botes are set to take to the stage at Rock Lily in Cape St Francis at 20:00 on May 5.

Faure is making his way back home for a nationwide tour, alongside top South African musicians under the careful direction of Botes. The tour will feature some of his best-loved hits, as well as new material.

Faure took his first step into the limelight as part of the iconic 70s four-piece South African pop rock phenomenon that captured the imagination of thousands of music lovers and generated unprecedented mania among screaming fans who flocked to sold-out venues to lose their marbles to songs like Charlie and the Lonely Loner Too.

Since then, Faure - a talented composer, lyricists, vocal artist, guitarist and keyboard player - featured in yet another best-selling band, wrote more than 100 songs and made his way into the Rock Godz Hall of Fame in Las Vegas in 2014 owing to his prolific contribution to rock music.

Botes, who made his memorable debut on the local music scene in 1998, needs little introduction.

His music reflects his passion, exuberant creativity and a mind that questions everything: not only sense and purpose, but also boundaries, consciousness and reality.

Botes - songwriter, guitarist and producer of powerfully entertaining concept shows - is one of the most versatile artists in South Africa.

His CD, David’s Confession - About Time, has become a collector’s item, while his first Afrikaans album, Oomblik van Waansin, is a personal and lyrical chronicle of his own life journey. In 2001 he won a Geraas Award as the Best Songwriter in Afrikaans for Oomblik van Waansin.Botes’ affinity for conceptual stage shows was demonstrated again in 2005 with the musical play Flight of Bird during the Aardklop Arts Festival in Potchefstroom. The production was nominated for an AngloGold Ashanti Smeltkroes Award.

One of his extremely popular productions, Crazy Diamond (a tribute to Pink Floyd) has been staged more than 200 times since its debut in 2008 at the Klein Karoo National Arts Festival - taking hundreds of die-hard fans aback by the authentic sounds and captivating story. This electrifying multi-dimensional show received ra-ving reviews during the past two years.

Tickets cost R150 per person. Limited tickets are avai-lable.
