Rotary Makro Golf Festival: calling all golfers

2016-03-31 06:00

LOCAL top sport stars and amateur golfers will pit their wits against legendary national players in an attempt to win the golf event of the year in St Francis Bay.

St Francis Bay is gearing up to host the prestigious annual St Francis Rotary Makro Golf Festival, due to tee off April 27 and come to an end on May 1.

This festival will coincide with the po-pular St Francis Nautical Festival set to take over Port St Francis from April 27 to May 1.

The event is sponsored by Makro in PE, and funds raised at the golf festival will be in aid of the St Francis Rotary to assist with their various community projects.

The not-to-be-missed event will see golfers compete for great prizes in a Better Ball competition played over two courses, the prestigious St Francis Links and the ever-popular St Francis Bay Golf Club.

“Makro are very proud to be part of this event and many of their suppliers have come on board to support the festival with sponsorships and wonderful prizes,” says Rotary St Francis spokesperson, Lyn Aitken.

“Timing the event to coincide with the Nautical Festival will mean that the families of those competing in the golf festival can enjoy a full array of entertainment and fun aimed at the whole family.

“This festival is more than just a fundraiser for our Rotary projects. It also provides a welcome boost to the economy of St Francis, as golfers are expected to travel from as far afield as Plettenberg Bay, Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown for the weekend. The Festival also attracts keen interest from Rota-rians countrywide and visiting overseas players.”

The R600 entrance fee grants players two days of golf with a chance to win great prizes.
