THIS Sunday sees the launch of a brand new Christian Lifestyle Magazine show on SABC 2 – Slice of Light.

The programme has a fresh, clean feel, and profiles real people making a difference in their communities, for Christ.

Slice of Light is anchored by two presenters: one the charming and energetic Fiks Mahola from SABC and the other, a fresh local talent, Megan Fisher, who makes her TV debut with this show.

When asked what viewers could expect from the series for the next 13 weeks, produ-cer Nicola Barbour said, “Our stories have depth and heart. Viewers can expect to be entertained and uplifted.

“We love to laugh, so humour is a big part of it as well. And as the credits roll, we just want viewers to feel rested and encouraged, and thinking with positivity about the new week.”

Some story highlights

  • The Timion organisation in Jeffreys Bay – which makes expert orthopaedic equipment for impoverished celebral palsied children, for free. They also hold special relaxation camps for the children’s carers.
  • Hidden Gem Arnu Oelfose, who is a young, virtuoso organist from PE. His passionate skills bring new life to the ancient instrument.
  • The amazing story of Charmaine Keevy who felt a strong prompting to take her dog for a walk far away from her normal route. And because of this, she found a new-born baby, in a stormwater drain.

After filming 13 episodes worth of inspiring stories, presenter Megan Fisher had a hard time choosing her favourite, “We have been so blessed to profile such a variety of excellent stories and people. For me, this series has been life changing. As a Mom, I would have to say my heart was really touched by the Penuel Children’s Foundation. They are a temporary place of safety for abused or abandoned children. The way they are changing the futures of these innocent little lives was just so wonderful to me.”

The series was shot almost entirely in the Eastern Cape, by Port Elizabeth production company Sunshine Coast Studios. With all linking material shot outdoors, at beaches, parks and country landscapes, there is much natural beauty on display. “We’re showca-sing a part of the country rarely seen on our screens,” said Barbour.

Episode 1 which airs Sunday, July 1, profiles Siya Sebenza – an exciting work scheme, which is turning unemployed young people into employed and earning. Then, find out how a Building Inspector became a Sunday School Teacher. André Viljoen, furthermore, details his journey from a hard drinking newspaper journalist, to starting Gateway News, a large Christian News Website.
