Sport action galore

SPORT-lovers will be spoilt for choice this festive season with touch rugby, volleyball, soccer, netball and basketball on the calendar.

The Kouga Sports Council (KSC), the Kouga Municipality and Jeffreys Bay Tourism have teamed up to present an action-filled five-day sports programme at Dolphin Beach in Jeffreys Bay for locals and visitors alike from December 29 to 30.

Kicking off the activities is a game of touch rugby on Monday, December 26. A total of R10 000 is up for grabs. The entry fee is R90 per team. For more information, contact 078 666 7167.

On Tuesday, December 27, teams can gear up for a game of beach volleyball at a cost of R20 per team. A total of R6 700 in prize-money is up for grabs. For more information, contact 083 441 1721.

Soccer-enthusiasts can enjoy a game of beach soccer on Wednesday, December 28. The entry fee is R90 per team. A whopping R8 500 can be won. For more information, contact 083 870 3232.

On Thursday, December 29, netball players will take to the beach, standing the chance to win a total of R7 700 in prize-money. The entry fee is R70 per person.

A game of beach basketball on Friday, December 30, will bring the sport’s activities to a close. The entry fee is R70 per person and participating teams stand a chance to win a total of R7 700 in prizes.

Registration for the different events is from 08:00 to 09:00 on the day of the specific event, to be followed by the captain’s briefing at 09:15. The game will start at 09:30 and finish at 15:00. The prize-giving is at 16:00.
