HUMANSDORP teams dominated this year’s Mayor’s Cup, with the soccer and netball sides using home advantage to full effect to be crowned champions.

City All Stars beat Jeffreys Bay’s Juventus 3-2 in a thrill-a-minute final held at the Humansdorp Country Club on Saturday.

All Stars and Juventus beat Royal Stars and Hooke Wits, respectively, earlier in the day to play in the decider.

Royal Stars and Wits shared the third and fourth place equally as their encounter could not take place due to time constraints.

Poison Ivy ran out winners at the netball tournament held at Graslaagte Primary, triumphing over G-Force from Jeffreys Bay.

Mighty Stars from Humansdorp took third place, beating Wits from Jeffreys in yet ano-ther duel between the two towns.

Kouga Executive Mayor Elza van Lingen congratulated the winners and thanked all the participants who made the tournaments exciting and successful affairs.

“For me, there were no losers as all matches took place in good spirit and no unfortunate incidents were reported. Sport was the winner at the end of the day,” she said.

An official handover ceremony will be held with all winners after completion of the rugby competition. The rugby had to be postponed due to many of the teams playing crucial league qualifying matches over the weekend.
