WITS Football Club versus Juventus Football Club: and the tournament winner is . . .

In a thrilling game at the sports field in Hankey on April 3, Wits and Juventus provided top-notch entertainment for fans, with neither team allowing the other to get the better of them - until Wits scored the winning goal to beat Juventus 2-1. By wiping out 40 local football teams, Wits secured the top spot as the Kouga Cup Tournament winners for 2016.

Presented by the Kouga Local Football Association, the tournament took place from March 25 to April 3, seeing 41 teams battle it out over 16 rounds, followed by the quarter finals and finals. The limited number of days during which the tournament took place, made it necessary for teams to play 30 mi-nutes a side instead of the usual 45.

The quarter finals saw Bafana Bafana take on City All Stars, while Thornhill United Junior battled it out with Juventus. The Black Vultures defended their spot in the semi-finals against JBay United, and the Royal Stars met their match in Wits.

During the semi-finals Juventus beat Bafana Bafana 2 - 0, while Wits won on penalties against Black Vultures. Bafana Bafana took third place, beating Black Vultures 2 - 0.
