Top class surfers at Corona JBay Open

THE star-studded Corona JBay Open, the anchor event of the anual JBay Winterfest and the only World Surf League Champ-ionship Tour event in the country, is set to take to the waves at Supertubes in Jeffreys Bay from July 9 to 22.

The event attracts the world’s top competitive surfers, inclu-ding 2017- and defending champ-ion Filipe Toledo from Brazil, two-times event winner Jordy Smith from Durban, 11-times world champion Kelly Slater from America and two-times world champion John John Florence from Hawaii.

They will be joined by Gabriel Medina and Italo Ferreira both from Brazil.

This year the rookies are Seth Moniz (Hawaii), Soli Bailey (Australia), Peterson Crisanto and Deivid Silva (Brazil) and Mikey Wright (Australia).

This year will once again see the women return for their championship tour event at Jeffreys Bay, including last year’s Corona JBay Open event winner Stephanie Gilmore from Australia.
