WRITE-ON Publishing, a St Francis Bay-based publisher, in association with Kouga Express, is inviting residents of and visitors to submit photos of Jeffreys Bay for possible use in a new, soon-to-be-published, elegant coffee table book - Impressions ofJeffrey’s Bay.The book is intended to contain glimpses of the places, people and perhaps unforgettable moments in time in the Jeffreys Bay area.“Instead of taking pictures ourselves, we felt we could better capture the spirit of the region by inviting residents and visitors to submit photographs for possible inclusion in the book,” says Frank Nunan from Write-On Publishing.A competition website has been developed where entrants can upload pictures for evaluation at no cost. These pictures can be voted on by the general public, and the 100+ pictures used in the book will be chosen by a combination of the pictures with the most votes and the selection panel’s input. The inspiration for the book came from a book by Jeffreys Bay resident and former ambassador Mzuvukile (“Mzi”) Maqetuka, called Impressions of my Home Town – a photographic essay of Graaff Reinet. Mzi, a keen and qualified photographer, has agreed to serve on the selection panel, together with Kouga Express and Nunan. The winner of the competition will have his or her picture featured on the front cover of the book and will get a R1 000 book voucher from Write-On. Each of the top five entrants will get a free copy of the book.Part of the proceeds, R50 per book, will be donated to the Jeffreys Bay Recycling Project specifically for the purchase of educational materials for their “moola shop”. The book may be pre-ordered at the special pre-production price of R325. It will retail for R400.Visit www.photojbay.writeonpublishing.co.za to enter the competition and/or pre-order your copy of the book.
