15 injured in taxi and bakkie collision

FIFTEEN people were injured on Friday afternoon after a taxi and bakkie collided on the Dennis Shepstone Road in Sweetwaters.

ER24 paramedics and provincial services find the bakkie and taxi in the middle of the road. The occupants of both vehicles were walking around on the scene.

Paramedics assessed the patients and found that one man from the bakkie and 14 taxi passengers had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.

The patients were treated and taken to Northdale and Edendale provincial hospitals. The taxi driver was assessed and found to have sustained minor injuries. Paramedics treated him, but he later refused transportation to hospital.

The exact cause of the collision is not yet known, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations. - Supplied
