THIS has been a celebration year for Ridge as we look back on the past 50 years since the school opened with 75 children.

From its inception Ridge has focused on quality Foundation phase education and has continued to grow and develop.

The school, now 730 children, includes a pre-primary and Afrikaans medium from Grade RR to Grade 3.

The focus of our curriculum is the holistic development of our children to become leaders of the future.

The sound academic programme includes physical education and sport, and a rich cultural programme.

Lees is pret.

This has been a busy term at Ridge.

Our annual athletics day was well attended by parents and family and the close competition was very exciting. Our mini-run for boys was won by Luthando Mathonsi and the girl’s winner was Diané Kock.

Congratulations to these promising athletes.

The enjoyable walkathon took place on September 16 with 1 600 eager participants that walked or ran the course.

This was followed by a time of fellowship, and delicious food prepared by our fund-raising team.

The Ridge community celebrated Heritage Day by dressing in cultural costume.

It was special to celebrate the different cultures represented in our school.
