ESTABLISHED in 1975, New Home Furnishers is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

Founded by Kanthillal Premrajh with an investment of only R5000 and a store size of 100 square metres, the store has grown to be one of the largest independent furniture and appliance dealers in KwaZulu-Natal.

It boasts of two branches in Pietermaritzburg and is also the owners of Capital Music which was established in 1989. The store, whose staff motto is “Serve and treat the customer in the manner that you would want to be served or treated” offers lay-byes and credit with up to 24 months pay.

“Over time our customers or their children have moved to all parts of South Africa and they still make us their first choice store for the major purchases of appliances, audio, video and furniture. Because of our long establishment we have become a one-stop shop for customers. We carry everything from the ‘front door’ to the ‘back door’, meaning from a kettle worth R100 to a lounge or bedroom furniture worth R60 000,” Thasvir Premrajh said:

With a total floor space in excess of 2500 square metres, it stocks major brand appliances, furniture, audio, electronic goods, air conditioning and has established relationships with supplies as deliveries can be arranged throughout the country. Celebrating 40 years since its existence, Premrajh said: “We thank our customers for their loyal support over the past 40 years. To all our new and potential customers, we urge you not to be just customers, but become part of our family and friends. We can match and beat prices. Try us for your next purchase or send us your best quote, you may be surprised at our offer.”
