‘Excellent service’ at SARS not surprising

2015-09-02 06:00

I REFER to DA councillor, Mr J. Singh’s letter, 12 August, Pietermaritzburg Fever titled “Quality service at SARS”.

It is hardly surprising that Mr Singh received an “excellent quality of service” at SARS.

With SARS being a government agency mandated by legislation to collect revenue and ensure compliance with tax law, it is inevitable that every concerted effort would be made to avert sloppy, inept service to the roughly 15.5 million registered taxpayers it needs to contribute to government coffers.

Given its impeccable customer service processes, it would make sense that the SARS customer service model be implemented by beleaguered government departments perpetually struggling with service-related challenges.
