TOYOTA SA says the current Corolla, introduced to the SA market in 2014, is leading all brands worldwide... and the latest version demonstrates why.

Upgrades to the Corolla kit list have grown across the range, with all models now getting daytime running lights, says the automaker.

The 1.6 Sprinter gets anthracite alloy wheel rims, boot-lid spoiler and Sprinter-unique colours and trim, along with Toyota’s multi-media touch screen display with reversing monitor and guide lines.

Other new standard items from the base model Esteem are Bluetooth and steering-wheel switches.

The engine line-up comprises 1.4 D-4D turbo diesel and three petrol engines; 1.3 Dual VVT-i unit, 1.6 Dual VVT-i and another new unit, a 1.8 Dual VVT-i unit. Each has a six-speed manual transmission; the 1.6 and 1.8 petrol variants may optionally be mated to Toyota’s new Multidrive S CVT auto.

Toyota SA says: “The good news is that prices have risen much less than the value of the extra kit offered - the increases range from 0.5% to 1.3%, depending on model.”

The freshened Corolla has a three-year or 100 000km warranty and a standard five-year or 90 000km service plan. Service intervals are 15 000km (including the 1.4 D). ToyotaCare roadside assistance is included.
