THE Sharks will make a brief foray into local waters when they take on the Golden Lions in a Currie Cup friendly at Woodburn Stadium on 31 July.

This Friday evening fixture will kick off at 7pm and a host of new signings are expected to make their Sharks debuts against last year’s Currie Cup finalists.

Piet Herbst, president of the Midlands Rugby Sub-Union, said that the Sharks’ appearance in PMB will not only provide local rugby supporters with the opportunity to see two leading Currie Cup contenders in action but would also boost amateur rugby in the province.

“We hope to draw a large crowd for what should be a really entertaining evening. It has been agreed that the game will be used as a fund-raiser for the KZN Rugby Union with amateur rugby, the clubs in the province, benefitting financially.”

Tickets will be available at R60 in the grandstand and R40 on the banks with parking (through the Boshoff Street entrance) at R10 a vehicle.

Tickets are on sale at the Woodburn Stadium offices between 9 am and 1 pm
