KZN MIDLANDS Youth Ballet Company’s inaugural ballet production, Thumbelina, will be staged at the Hilton College Theatre on 8 and 9 July.

Robin van Wyk, artistic director of the Cape Town City Ballet and local ballet teachers, recently formed the KZN Midlands Youth Ballet Company (KZNMYBC).

The KZNMYBC held auditions in Pietermaritzburg earlier this year when Van Wyk put young dancers through a rigorous audition.

There were 71 dancers selected to be part of the KZNMYBCs production, Thumbelina. It is an enormous honour and privilege for these young dancers to share the stage with nine of South Africa’s top dancers from the Cape Town City Ballet.

Van Wyk, who is directing the production, is hoping that the PMB public will show their appreciation for this art and support the KZNMYBC.
