BMW South Africa has created a special edition of its fifth-generation M5 locally, boasting amazing performance that sets it apart from the standard sedan.

The BMW M5 Pure Metal Edition became available in a limited number of 20 vehicles from this month.

This limited edition M5 is priced at R1 948 000 (excluding CO2 tax).

How many does BMW expect to sell?

BMW SA confirms that some of its new M-badged cars have arrived while the majority are still on their way. Of the 20 limited cars, five have been already been sold.

Tweaks to the engine management system and an increase in charge pressure to the 4.4 litre V8 engine enables its to produce 441kW/700Nm (29kW more than the standard M5 and 18kW higher than the Competition Package).

It reaches 100km/h in 3.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 305km/h.
