A MAN was killed and three others injured yesterday morning - May 22 - when a motor car and taxi collided at the Long Market and Retief road intersection in the Pietermaritzburg CBD.

ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on the scene at approximately 6.30pm.

Upon arrival, paramedics found a taxi on its side towards the pavement and the car had come to a stop a short distance away.

Paramedics found the body of a man lying near his vehicle. The man had apparently been pulled from the vehicle by a member of the public.

The man was assessed and found to have sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for the man and he was declared dead.

Three other men were found on the scene with minor injuries. These men had been travelling in the taxi at the time of the collision.

Paramedics treated the patients and thereafter transported them to Northdale Hospital for further treatment.

The exact cause of the collision is not yet known, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations. - Supplied.
