THE Spur Merchiston Tag Rugby event, which took place on Saturday, was a hit.

A total of 58 teams of boys and girls from the Pietermaritzburg area participated.

Apart from ruby action, there was also a flea market for shopaholics and a food stall, run by Spur, to feed hungry stomachs.

“Spur Steak Ranches is proud to provide a platform for boys and girls at schools level to not only discover their talent, but encourage them to be physically active in sport,” Khakhi Diala head of marketing for Spur Group.

The boys were also coached by Ian McIntosh of SA Rugby Legends.

McIntosh was accompanied by rugby legends who participated in a tag rugby game with staff, Merchiston teachers and rugby coaches.

“We are so proud to have Spur as a sponsor and we look forward to many more tag rugby festivals with the group.

“Saturday’s event was a huge success,” said Michelle Michelle Stahlhut, head of marketing for Merchiston.
