IMBALI Unit 18 actress Nonkululeko Sithole is putting the city on the map as she landed a role on the drama series, Isipho.

Sithole, who is now based in Johhanesburg, started appearing yesterday, playing the role of a police woman. Isipho airs on e-tv every Monday to Thursday at 6.30 pm.

Speaking to Echo, Sithole said it is such an honour to be playing on such a big drama series.

“I know it is not a big role that I got, but I believe being part of such a big drama series will open more doors for me in the future.

“I am very honoured and blessed. I never thought that one day I will be on the same drama series with the actors and actresses that I used to watch on television when I was growing up,” she said.

Sithole, who is also a student at the University of Johannesburg, moved from Pietermaritzburg to the City of Gold in 2015 to look for better opportunities in the acting industry.

Since her relocation, Sithole has appeared on several soapies such as Isibaya, Ring of Lies and Generations: The Legacy.

“I am so grateful for my achievements in such a short period of time. Working with people who have been in the acting industry for a long time also helps us as young, upcoming actresses. We learn a lot from them which helps us grow.

“It is not easy to break into the acting industry and it is not guaranteed how long you are going to be relevant for. If you decide to enter this industry you must not enter because you want to be famous or you want money.

“Acting has become part of my life and I am so passion about it. One day I want to play leading roles on big television shows.”

She also revealed that she has recently shot a few drama series that will be airing soon. She is also part of the movie called Action Driller which will be in cinemas soon.

“We will be screening the movie [in] mid-November and I cannot wait for people to see it, especially my home-town people because I am doing [this] to make them proud,” she said.
