THE upper central Pietermaritzburg business district has been sparked by the new developments at Laager Centre, bringing about much needed changes in the area.

Laager Centre is one of the oldest shopping centres in Pietermaritzburg and is situated between two main streets, Church Street and Langalibalele Street (Longmarket Street).

Both the streets are the main entry and exit points of the Central Business District area from the greater township areas, namely Edendale and Imbali.

The centre is surrounded by many residential properties, commercial properties as well as schools which all bring in constant foot traffic.

Ten years ago the centre was purchased by its’ new owners, Alex Dube and Rod Tifflin, who are determined to change and turn the centre around by combining residential and commercial occupants.

The centre’s anchor tenants are Duzi Spar, Tops, Gordon’s Liquor Cellars, Honchos, Microsure, Arthur Ford, Laager Post Boxes and a fraternity of medical practitioners and boutiques. The Department of Agriculture and Forestry has also been based at the centre for over 30 years.

Laager Centre has a variety of small businesses as well as flats. Most of the small business residents have been doing business at the centre for over five years and longer.

Laager Centre has all the major banking ATM’s, making Laager Centre “The pleasure of shopping”.

Come and enjoy the Christmas festivities on 15 December from 11.30am to 3pm where Father Christmas and his helpers will be handing out gifts and goodies to the children. There will also be hot dogs and juices for the first 200 shoppers.

Children can enjoy the jumping castle and face painting and the Albany promotional truck will be handing out promotional gifts to the children as well as providing entertainment.

We hope that you will join us for a fun filled day.

Laager Centre management team and tenants wish you a Merry Christmas and a blessed and prosperous 2017.
