AS a way of giving back to the community, Ndumiso Hlongwane has started an aerobics club called Ikasi Aerobics.

This club was official launched on Saturday at Ndabenhle Primary School in Imbali Unit 2.

Speaking to Echo, Hlongwane said seeing a lot of people jogging in the road in the morning and evening is what encouraged and inspired him to start this club.

“I saw that people like staying healthy and they are doing everything they can to make sure they succeed. However, I saw that it was not safe for them, especially women, to jog alone on the road all the time.

“If you jog alone in the morning criminals can take advantage of that.

“That is why I thought it would be more suitable to bring people together in a safe place where they can enjoy and keep healthy,” he said.

Hlongwane said this is not only for people in Imbali Unit 2, and anyone from the neighbouring areas is welcome.

“People from our communities are not rich and most of them are not working and they can not afford to pay for gym, this is why this club is going to be very helpful.”

Hlongwane said he was happy with the turnout at the launch and he hopes that a lot of people will come and attend.

The first session will be on April 27.

Hlongwane said they will have training every Saturday at 7 am and, based on the attendance, they will then start having training everyday.
