THE Duzi2Sani 4x4 Expedition launched last Wednesday with various members of Msunduzi Tourism and the Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Municipality in attendance to speak on the significance of the anticipated event which begins this Friday.

The event, which involves Land Rover, local government, Msunduzi and Sani Tourism as well as African Link Tours, will be spearheaded under the theme “The year of Nelson Mandela: Advancing transformation of South Africa’s Heritage Landscape” and will be a three-day event starting in Pietermaritzburg and conclude in Lesotho.

Speaking to the media ahead of the event, chairperson of the Msunduzi Pietermaritzburg Tourism Association Lwazi Nsele said that those attending can expect an exhilarating three-day event which will showcase the best that uMgungundlovu and the Harry Gwala District have to offer in terms of tourism.

“This annual [event] has an enormous array of activities and attractions which will celebrate the rich diversity and cultures that these two districts have [to offer],” said Nsele.

Nsele said that they were grateful for the partnership and support of Jaguar Land Rover which has been ongoing for five years now since the expedition began.

“We will be using our top of the range vehicles provided to us to go through Sani Pass, the only road link between Lesotho and KwaZulu-Natal.”

The event will begin this Friday, September 14 starting in Pietermaritzburg.

They will then spend the day at Underberg and on September 16 will tour Lesotho and then return to Pietermaritzburg.
