Are current contractors competent?

2017-06-14 06:03

WHILE the current spurt on replacement of poles by the electricity department is lauded, it’s timing and execution leaves more questions than desired.

Are these contractors and their staff knowledgeable about the standards required for this type of work?

Did they meet the criteria in the adjudication stages, i.e staff, resources. etc.?

Is this work being rushed through for this financial year with insufficient checks and balances leaving this process open to abuse and corruption while we are still reeling with the shenanigans of the same department, it’s contractors and consultants? Is this perhaps payback?

The work is poorly executed leaving citizens with unplanned outages, damaged appliances, unprofessional conduct of staff, safety hazards, access problems, consumers being left with no electricity for long periods and non-functional street and traffic lights.

How soon is council going to reimburse consumers for damages to appliances?

We need answers before this set of contractors run away after getting paid.
