HIP Hop artist Minenhle Zakwe (17) says he wants to use his music to heal people and give them hope despite things that are happening around them.

The Grade 11 St Joseph’s pupil will release his first mixtape, titled Incwadi Yothando (Love letter), in November. It will be recorded by his own record label, Zero.

Speaking to Echo, Zakwe said he is very excited and he believes that God has done this for him.

“After putting so much work and energy in since 2015, when I started singing, this is finally happening. This is like a dream come true for me.

“I never thought that one day I would release music under my own record label,” he said.

Zakwe said his love for music started a long time ago, when he was still a child.

“I grew up listening to a lot of music, especially gospel music. I then fell in love with hip hop music and decided to go for it and be a singer.

“When I first started in 2015 I did not want to record anything because I wanted to give people the best music. For me, getting into music is not for fame or for money but I want heal broken souls.

“There are lot of people and lot of things that are happening in our lives that have made people lose hope. I want to restore that hope through my music.”
