NETBALL player Nonhlanhla Shezi from Ashdown has been selected to play for provincial netball team, Kingdom Stars, at the Brutal Fruit National League next month.

Shezi who plays for Tyfon Netball Team from Sweetwaters received the good new last Sunday.

This is the fourth time that Shezi has been selected to play for this team.

Speaking to Echo she said although she has experience, the selection process still isn’t easy.

“There were lot of new, good players that I thought they would select.

When I received the news I was very thrilled because it shows that my hard work and training hard has paid off,” she said.

Shezi, who plays the goal shooter position, said she started playing netball at the age of 13 and has never looked back and has vowed to do her best “to show every one what she is made of”.

“I take playing netball as my career because it is my only hobby and I know that I am good at it.

I remember the time when I was not selected for the provincial team, I was very hurt but I never gave up because I knew what I wan-ted.

“I went back to my trainer Mrs Mlotshwa and we started training again and I was back on track.

I want to see myself playing for the national team one day or become the first black coach in the top level of netball .”

Shezi is not only a netball player but she is also a netball coach at Pietermaritzburg Girls’ High and Pelham School. She is selected along Khalipha Gidela who plays for uMgungundlovu Netball Team.
