A NON-PROFIT organisation called Pietermaritzburg Youth Development Foundation will host auditions for a talent show that is meant to celebrate Youth Day on June 16.

These auditions will take place at Bessie Head Library on Saturday (May 11) and the main event will be on June 15 at Bessie Head Library.

Auditions will include poetry, hip hop dancers and singers, isicathamiya dancers and a beauty pageant called Miss and Mr June 16.

The pageant will have two categories juniors (six years to 15 years) and seniors (16 years to 30 years).

Registrations will take place between 9 am and 10 am.

Jabulile Ziqubu, who is the founder of PMB Youth Development Foundation, said the aim is to help youth and children stay away from drugs by bringing them together and giving them a chance to showcase their talents.

“This organisation deals a lot with the youth of Pietermaritzburg. We are trying to help them develop themselves through their talents, that is why we are giving them this opportunity.

“This will also give the youth an opportunity to network with each other and it will also give them exposure as well. They will also get an opportunity to be taught about the self-confidence that they need to have so that they can go far in life.”

The joining fee for individual artists is R100 and R150 per group. For models, the joining fee for juniors is R100 and seniors is R150.
