Bail date for Khumalo trio

2019-03-27 06:01

THE bail application of three men charged with the murder of ANC activist Mhlengi Khumalo has been adjourned to April.

Mbuso Mkhize, Sizwe Sibiya and Thabane Sibiya are alleged to have murdered Khumalo on February 12 at his home in KwaPata. They are also individually charged for being in possession of an unlawful firearm and ammunition. Khumalo was the secretary of former KwaPata ward councillor Msizi Ngcobo and an SA Communist Party (SACP) leader in the area.

Mkhize and Sizwe Sibiya on Tuesday said they needed legal aid. Thabane Sibiya said he no longer wished to apply for bail.

A formal bail application has now been set down for April 4, for Mkhize and Sizwe Sibiya.
