WOODLANDS resident Brenda Jordan has come a long way since that Sunday when she drove down Cedar Road and was inspired to raise funds for the Isabel Beardmore Home. Jordan has finally raised enough funds to supply the old age home with a fully-functional, brand new generator.

“Ever since that Sunday, when I drove past and saw that the lights were off due to load shedding, I have been on a mission to raise funds for the home to ensure that they are never without lights, especially in winter,” said Jordan.

Initially setting out to raise an amount of R28 000, Jordan said that she was pleased and unexpectedly given a pleasant surprise when she noted that she was on her way to collecting much more money than her initial goal was.

“It warms my heart to know that people care and that I have managed to go beyond the original target of R28 000,” said Jordan, who stated that to date she was able to raise R42 000 (rounded off).

Jordan said that, to begin with, she was given a donation from Girls’ High School Principal Andrew Graaf, who got the ball rolling with his donation, and since then people have just opened their hearts and donated generously.

Since embarking on her mission to grant the home a generator, Jordan has succeeded in acquiring a Roto tank for the home, after winning a competition through Just Build, which she selflessly donated to the home, and she is now in the process of purchasing the right generator, once she receives the proper council from an expert.
