Thirty plumbers were trained during the asbestos cement replacement project. These youths have been empowered to further their skills with certificates and were also given a toolbox full of tools. The Hilton Ratepayers’ Association and the Howick West Ratepayers’ Association were part of the stakeholder engagement that congratulated the work on the project.

The R230 million loan was funded by Development Bank of South Africa for the project.

The project for Hilton, specifically costs, were over R168 million and the savings were used to further upgrade the water supply in Emashingeni and Kwadulela, which will be finished by mid-December.
