THE SENZIZWI Foundation, a non-profit organisation which gives aid to young drug users, is asking for assistance in order to open a rehabilitation centre.

Pastor Magic Khanyile from the Senzizwi Foundation, which was established in 2016, said the high rate of young people who are involved in drugs is what motivated them to work towards opening a centre.

“We want to use this centre to help those who are ready to quit drugs and be rehabilitated.

“We already have the youth who have come forward saying that they want to quit. We are not going to force them but they will volunteer,” he said.

The rehabilitation centre will be located at Laycentre in Edendale.

Pastor Khanyile said that although the centre is for both males and females, they are focusing on female users first.

“We want to help them before they face things such as unwanted pregnancies and the like.

“We have already secured premises but it needs renovations and furniture.

“We are appealing to anyone who would like to assist us with anything since we are a non-profit organisation.

“We want to make sure that our children are living at a place that will make them feel safe and at home. We believe that will also contribute positively in encouraging them to stay out of drugs,” he said.

Pastor Khanyile said the facility will accommodate 10 people at a time so that they can get all the attention and help that they need. He added they will keep each group for six months but, if someone has made good progress before the end of six months, they will release the patient and accommodate others who also need help.

“We don’t want to only help them by quitting drugs. We will also do a background check on them to gain information about their educational qualifications,” the pastor said.

“We want them to leave the centre and start their new lives with something in hand that will secure their future. We will support those who need to finish their schooling and those who would like to gain tertiary education.”

If you would like to assist, please contact Pastor Magic Khanyile at 072 419 2332.
