Camps Drifts accident, one dead

2017-04-26 06:00

AN accident in Camps Drift on Monday night left one person dead and two seriously injured.

Reports from the scene indicate that the vehicle with three occupants had veered off the road and slammed into the wall of a bridge.

Netcare 911 paramedics found the area littered with accident debris and the twisted frame of the vehicle, consistent with that of a high impact collision.

“After the injured were examined it was found that one man succumbed to his injuries, two others were found to have sustained life-threatening injuries,” said spokesperson Chris Botha.

The team worked at the scene to stabilise the injured. After the men were placed on manual ventilators, medics immobilised them on trauma boards to prevent further spinal injuries.

The patients were then transported to a hospital in Pietermaritzburg under the care of the advanced life support paramedics for specialised care. - Supplied.
