Career fair aims to improve the lives of children in Ezinketheni

2018-07-18 06:01

NON-profit organisation Mama Ntombi’s Community Projects (MNCP) will be hosting its second career fair, at Umsilinga Primary School, Ezinketheni, on July 14.

The fair is aimed at helping and guiding the youth of Ezinketheni on how they can improve their lives for the better.

Sandra Pillay, who is the project manager, said this is part of their educational empowerment programme whereby children will be granted an opportunity to engage with professionals from various fields and expand their knowledge on the different career opportunities available to them.

“We believe that education is the key to empowering young children and breaking the circle of poverty. We assist different areas but our main focus area is Ezinketheni.

“A lot of children in the area do not have access to information, that is why we are bringing the information to them, to help them improve and change their lives.

“With this career fair, we are not only focusing on children who are at school but we are also looking at those who have dropped out and how we can assist them in getting back to school and making a bright future for themselves.

“We do not want these young children to judge their future based on their background. We want them to know that, no matter where you come from, if you have education you can change your life. For some of them, dropping out of school was not their plan, but situations forced them to. We want them to know that we are here to help them, motivate and encourage them to do well in life,” she said.

She encouraged the youth of Ezinketheni to come out in their numbers to attend this career fair as it will be very helpful to them.

She said that this year’s career fair is much bigger than last year’s and there will be also be other activities on offer, such as relay, netball, soccer, a talent show, and live entertainment.
