THE Alliance Française Pietermaritzburg, in conjunction with the Fort Nottingham Museum, will be hosting Bastille Day celebrations on July 14.

The French National Day marks the anniversary of the Storming of the Bastille which took place on July 14, 1789, a turning point in the French Revolution, as well as the Fête de la Fédération which celebrated the unity of the French people on July 14, 1790.

“Enjoy a day of fabulous French fun and celebrations with tantalising French food stalls and fully stocked bars with all your favourite drinks and great entertainment,” said Louise Fox.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY INCLUDE:

Jacques Lagesse singing and entertaining those in attendance with his music and crooning the odd Edith Piaf song.

We can all join in singing a rousing La

Marseillaise
