BE prepared for a brand new musical experience in the Midlands.

Sunday, March 10, is a musical day not to be missed by the entire family; from grandparents, grandkids and everyone in-between.

The concert will be held in the grounds of Drakondale Girls Choir School on the D796, the old Red Acres Retreat in Merrivale. Follow the signs from Geekie Road, opposite Merrivale Spar.

The day kicks off at 11am with an amazing choral concert in the auditorium. This will include the Drakondale Girls Choir, Pietermaritzburg Amateur Music Society, and the choirs of Voortrekker, Grace College, and Carter High; all under the skilful baton of Botes Gresse and accompanied by Matthew Hoffman.

From there, the festival moves down onto the beautiful lawns with an incredible line-up of musicians including Ard Matthews, Jack Mantis, Dave Knowles, Jessica Martins, Don Clarke, Alma Flamenca (dance troupe) and TreeManChi (DJ). Craft and food stalls will also be on site and the concert should be finished by sunset.

Crafters, stall holders and entrepreneurs are welcome to book a stall in the grounds.Contact the event organisers to enquire about stall bookings and prices.

Spectator tickets for the whole day are R150 per person (from 11am to 6.30pm), and are available from www.webtickets.co.za and from selected PicknPay stores. Tickets will also be available at the gate.

Tickets for the choral concert only, (11am to noon), are available at R80 but tickets are limited and will need to be booked.

Bring a picnic blanket or deck chairs and come prepared for a wonderful, lazy Sunday afternoon of music, food, fun and family.

Directions: (From Geekie Road (opp. Merrivale Spar), turn left into Klaasen Road which becomes Sutton. About 200m after it becomes a gravel road, turn left and almost immediately right. At the crossroads turn right again and this will take you straight to Drakondale gate.) — Supplied.
