VALENTINE’S Day is almost here. If you are single this February 14, there’s absolutely no need to bring out the box of tissues and bawl your eyes out.

With a bit of imagination, and daring to be different, you can observe the day as a reflection of who you are and a celebration of your life.

Tourism KwaZulu-Natal (TKZN) believes that the idea of love on Valentine’s Day is not to be shared by couples only.

Singles can also love themselves and celebrate their uniqueness by spoiling and pampering themselves.

According to TKZN acting chief executive officer Phindile Makwakwa, Friday will be the perfect opportunity to spread love to all our loved ones, including our family, friends and ourselves, and a reminder to keep loving for the rest of the year.

Furthermore, she said while they recommend romantic experiences for young and old couples on February 14; “We are also aware there are many men and women out there who are not in a relationship. There is no need for them to feel left out of the festivities.

“If you are single, there are some unique ways you can celebrate and make the most out of Valentine’s Day.

“In KZN, we have plenty of establishments that can deliver a world-class tourism experience for those who feel excluded from the love club,” said Makwakwa.

Why not celebrate Valentine’s Day by getting other single buddies together and throwing a party, indoors or outdoors?

Taking your best friend out on a ‘date’ is also a great option for single friends who want to take advantage of couples’ deals on Valentine’s Day or share in the going-out experience.

“You do not need to splurge on the day. All you need is friends who can get together to celebrate their relationship and love for each other.

“Single friends can have fun at the movies, order in pizza or enjoy a fun-filled games night,” said Makwakwa.

For those singles who want to explore in and around KZN on Valentine’s Day, a list of to do activities has been prepared by TKZN.

1. Zip-lining in the South Coast

This exhilarating experience will not only leave you speechless but it is an adrenaline rush that will make your heart race like love at first sight.
